History of PYC

Established in 1905, the Pequonnock Yacht Club moved from its namesake Pequonnock River in Bridgeport to its current location in Historic City Point district of New Haven in 2009 where it flourished. Spanning 700’ of waterfront property, the club shares its neighborhood with the maritime high school,
The Sound School, and a beautiful historic community that began as one of New England’s premiere oystering hubs in the 1800s.

Location

Nestled on the shore of New Haven Harbor, PYC is surrounded by numerous scenic destinations including Fort Nathan Hale Park, Lighthouse Point, Bradley Point, and a walkable sandbar that puts you right in the heart of the landscape.

Membership Opportunities

Membership at PYC offers qualified individuals the opportunity to join as either full or associate members. Associate members gain access to hall rental, the clubhouse bar and associated amenities, and are invited to club-sponsored social events. Full members share these benefits as well as hold voting rights regarding club business, the ability to lease slips, and access to other marina facilities. All members are welcome to enjoy service upstairs from Shell and Bones staff. If you dine downstairs in the restaurant, a 10% members’ discount will apply! Summer of 2025 also brought us the beautiful Little Lotus restaurant at the entrance to our parking lot adding to our already diverse food selection.

Our Clubhouse and Amenities

Pequonnock’s top-tier location offers a stunning panoramic view on the west shore of New Haven Harbor. The surrounding neighborhood is the historic City Point district of New Haven which is a stone’s throw from a variety of attractions in the downtown area.
Our protected floating docks offer power and water for comfort and safety while you take advantage of our upstairs clubhouse, showers, and coin-operated laundry
facilities.
The 4-star oyster bar and restaurant Shell and Bones is on our first floor and the Little Lotus restaurant sits at the front of the parking lot; both offer diverse menu options for any foodie. In addition, outdoor BBQ stations are available for use along the docks. The clubhouse also offers a small bar menu with locally prepared pizzas, hotdogs, and small meals if you’re looking for a quick bite.

The Marina

Our marina offers a fuel dock with Valvtect marine diesel and gas as well as pump-out services with our friendly dock staff there to assist 5 days a week. In addition to our floating docks, we have a recently renovated mooring field available just outside of our sea wall entrance. The club installed all new Helix Mooring Systems in 2020 so that whether you’re staying one night or long term, you can rest easy knowing your vessel and equipment are safe. Although we do not offer launch service, we do have an available dinghy dock in the marina.

Social Activities

The hall is available to members for event booking through our club manager. PYC also hosts club sponsored events throughout the year where members can gather to socialize and imbibe. Annual events such as the St. Patrick’s Day Celebration, Opening Day, the Children’s Christmas Party, and our New Year’s Eve Party are just a few of the gatherings hosted at the club. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for upcoming events!

We are just a short ride away from many of New Haven's well-known landmarks. Take a free tour of the Yale University Art Gallery, visit the newly renovated Yale Peabody Museum, stroll East Rock Park, or see a show at Shubert Theater. When your appetite calls, get a burger from Louis’ Lunch where the burger was invented or indulge in the nation’s BEST “apizza” from anywhere downtown, then grab an ice cream at Ashley’s; there are a plethora of options in New Haven’s incredible food scene.
